Chandler and I were in a game of Fallout. We had decided to blow up Megaton, as well as another town that was apparently to the south of that, which used a neon green gear as its symbol. We were standing above a lush green ravine, looking across the dusty brown hills that extended into the distance. As we watched, Megaton blew up- a giant mushroom cloud on the horizon just ahead of us. It was silent. Then, a smaller mushroom cloud to the right of that, across another range of hills. Then more explosions, erupting in a line progressing towards us. Chandler said it was a firestorm, but we were unconcerned, as we knew that we were in a game and it wasn’t programmed to hurt us. My perception was distorted- the nuclear explosions appeared to happen on the opposite end of the ravine but at the same time they seemed, based upon their size, to be happening farther away.
Then we fast-traveled to the area near the blown-up town. We walked around the rubble. I noticed that we were receiving 10 rads per second. The neon green gear signs poked out of the rubble.
I don’t remember what happened next exactly, but I wound up with three other non-specific people investigating a wooden house that stood up from flattened landscape, totally unharmed. It was rectangular and had wooden siding.
We went inside and stood around in a room for a bit, talking, before we were approached by an uncomfortably short middle-aged man in a blue, yellow, red and black striped shirt. He had a creased face, watery eyes and tightly-curled brown hair. He was a bit pudgy, sort of rounded around the stomach but square in the shoulders. He stood there and twitched as one of the people I was with said, “Oh yeah, this part.”
“What part?” I asked. We were talking about the situation like it was a video game because, for now, it still seemed like it.
“The part with the man who should be dead.”
The twitchy man recited the date for us- something like “September 30, 1980.” I realised that he was an android and he was stuck on a certain date before a great calamity, which was like 200 years ago. Then he turned around and left the room. After a bit, we followed him into a bedroom where he was waking up his master in a dusty, yellowed bedroom. The old man that climbed out of the bed had a long face and a shiny, balding head with unusually thick grey hair growing at his temples. I thought that I had seen this actor perform in a different situation.
I don’t remember what happened next. I think we talked to the old guy for a while, ate some pizza then went sneaking through his house. Regardless, we wound up in an attic bedroom, which was as yellowed and old as the rest of the house. In it was a young, pretty Asian girl in a little skirt. Somehow, we deduced that she was his sex slave and that he was a super sadist. So, for some reason, we decided to attack her. I was given a piece of metal with a handle and two prongs. I leapt on her, threw her onto the bed and stabbed this into her back, pinning her to the sheets. It went in nice and easy and there was no blood. She laid there and didn’t move. I was disturbed.
Then we had to escape before the old man noticed. So we hurried on out but we ran into him in the hall. We said we were just leaving and he said that we should wash the dishes we had left when we had been eating. We nodded and hurried out, and I think the old man noticed what was going on just as we got out the door.
